Ryad Dar Najat: Ryad Dar Najat

Av: Leona Leslie

Riad Dar Najat is a magical Riad right in the centre of the Medina in Marrakech. Everything in the hotel was designed and created by its French owner Oliver so it could officially be classified as a design hotel but he didn’t want to seem pretentious. The colourful staff includes the owners mother, a lovely but rather eccentric old lady who loves to socialise with the guests, a small group of Moroccan girls who cook the most delicious food and an unofficial member of staff, Serge, a local French artist who delights in giving his advice about things to see, where to go and on life in general in Morocco. Everyone in the hotel will go out of their way to ensure you make the most out of your stay.

The Riad has a rooftop terrace where breakfast is served each day (although I have to say that after a week in Marrakech you get a bit sick of the sweet, fatty pancakes and super sweet coffee that are served). Dinner is also served on the terrace, or downstairs in the courtyard, in your room or wherever you want, but it really is lovely to tuck into a delicious lamb tagine under the stars with the distant sounds of the main square of the medina humming in air. The food at the hotel was some of the best we tasted.

Marrakech is a fantastic city and our stay in Riad Dar Najat made it even more special.
